I Love You!

Note: This poem is another real-life story. This is the story of my very dear friend who has over the time fallen for a man who possess a life-turning history that can move anyone! He is a gem and truly deserve to be loved for who he is. I have met him personally and I believe that men like him are found rarely on this planet for he never curses the life’s mishaps instead enjoy competing with them. He is an inspiration and I believe what he did for his family isn’t a piece of cake. It is his birthday today and I wish him a very warm Happy Birthday with blessings for his health and happiness. I hope he and my friend can succeed in paving their way together.

The poem can be confusing but I do not want to fade the charm by my explanations. All I can say is consider my friend and her lover on the scene – I’m not included even if the poetry sounds like “I” all the time.

Hey buddy, if you are reading this one’s for you!  Happy Birthday! *High Five*

Your arms comfort me,
Your love is all I can see.

Deep oceans and vast skies,
Love’s in the air – no goodbyes.

Claim me; I belong to you,
Waiting on the moment when I can say I DO!

Life’s been a torture and a harsh examination.
You’ve fought the hatred, bullies and raising inflation.

The day you sobbed while murmuring the story of your past,
My heart was stabbed and my heartbeat so fast.

You told me how previously you had nothing to eat,
You had to shift houses – move from street to street.

Your wife was your support and you loved her truly,
She paced with you despite of life being so unruly.

You looked at her and the miseries seemed off shore,
Her arms were your heaven and her love your highest score.

The world conspired against both of you,
However, you remained steadfast as the time flew.

*From this turn, I have changed the speech of the poem. The poem continues to be his narration (in my words, of course) *

Seven years of struggle, efforts and resistance,
Letting her go was the destiny’s decision.

Two different religions portray us as criminals,
If love is a crime then I will commit it in all my life’s intervals.

The world parted us,
M
y soul couldn’t take the fuss.

The divorce papers were on the desk,
Failure invaded my heart – my reflection so grotesque.

How can I sign them for I love her name?
How can I forget those memories we together framed?

The world’s cruel and brutal but my heart is at peace,
I smile when I encounter how her life’s at ease.

Her gleaming eyes deserve all the happiness,
How can I forget her lovely caresses?

She loved me, for who I was,
She adored me exceptionally without laws.

Today, on my birthday I cherish my memories with her,
Our lively memories that can never be blurred.

She looks at me from the photo I have clutched,
Her pretty smile makes me feel the warmth of her touch.

Many may come in my life though,
No one can fade the charm of her glow.

Life can be excruciating to wound you,
Make your way through and be forever true.

  11. What I love about this poem is it’s shifting point of view yet the flow is as smooth as it was prior to shifting. That’s amazing! I liked the content as well really touchy… You did an amazing job there!

    • Hey Umr,

I am glad you had a good time reading! Thank you for re-assuring me that the shifting point was smooth and in a flow cause I elaborate don it only cause I thought it may sound disrupt if I wouldn’t be mentioning the shifting! Thank you for your humble compliment as well 🙂

      Regards,
      -Naima.

Dear Naima, it is a beautiful surprise that you use the way like in the movie, you cut into a different angle to see thing from a different perspectives. Here I give my humble comments, and my thoughts. I wish to know the little things that they have done to each other, to show their love, how deep, and how strong. Here I have the image of the support when he was in problems, and the trouble of marriage due to different religions. I wish there are more imaginations in the poems. I wish to see the little surprises like, the laughter in the kitchen and the flow of the water, the sound of the cooking, and compare that to now, there is silent, and sometime the droplet of the water to the sink that has no dish, the morning with her sun shining smile, and now the Sun rays shows only the floating of dust.

    Love,
    kc

I have a 9 year relationship with 2 years of marriage, and a divorced due to the pressure from the parents, and a 5 years relationship ended up with a heartbreaking separation due to the pressure of having the different of goals in life. Life, and Love, without true devotion, is just merely a cloud that no one can hold onto it.

kc, with still a bleeding heart.

      • I am sorry but I am so sure that life still will give you chances to live and prosper accordingly!!

        -Naima.

      • qiquan

Oh dear, I should not have talked too much about myself =). Let’s change the tone a bit, I wish that you write more about the brighter side of the world, and of the people you love, like your mom, your brother, your cousin, your passion etc, because at a younger age, we are supposed to be happy.

You will find one day, like the old saying, this is the best time of your life =D!

        Love,
        kc

      • Oh yeah, you might see the brighter side soon enough! I will talk about my siblings and all – the feeling of leaving them and moving ahead is bothering me so will share it in here! 🙂
        -Naima.

    • Heya,

Your suggestions and comments are always the heart-beat to my poetry and so is your blog-site for my reading! I think I will edit this version the same way you suggested, I liked the idea! How she is missed and her presence craved. I am glad to know you keep coming up with idea – you are just the right teacher for me!
      With loads of love,
      -Naima.

      • qiquan

Dear Naima, don’t worry about changing it, because I am sure you have much better idea than me when you come back to the same poem 20 years later. I also like it this way since this is your great effort in attempting to write about delicate feeling about love.

I really enjoy your writing =)!

        Love
        kc

      • I know there is no need to edit but I still think I will like to after hearing from that person. I like him and I love how he narrates his story with popping out lessons and he highlights them so clearly! I would like to talk to him and include something about him very very soon! 🙂
Thank you for liking my writing, I made him read this poem as I got my friend’s and his photo framed and wrote this poem with golden lead on a black chart paper and gave it to him as a present! He was happy to read the poem – he said he enjoyed it on my blog already as I have entertained my readers before him.(his humor at times make him so perfect too) When he said that, I was feeling good! It was for him so I felt delighted when he thought it was a good effort!
I am sure, 20 years later when I would have more experience regarding LOVE in my pocket, this poem might not explain my emotions then!
I am so glad to have you sharing your stories!
        Love ❤
        -Naima.

      • qiquan

The photo is excellent in the framing, and with the silhouette and the vignetting. You know, I used to do the same thing like you, but about friendship =). We are both too funny people, and life is meant to be like that!

        Love ❤
        kc

      • I am sure, friendship is one relationship which when gets deep manifests into LOVE 🙂

        -Naima.

  13. The story you’ve conveyed here is touching…I’ll never understand why society puts such barriers around love. But I’m glad there’s a happy ending…

  14. You know I really find the explanations fascinating. I have spent so much of my life trying to write obscurely and there were times that I never would have dreamed of explaining something I wrote…

but now, I think differently. I like how you switched voices mid-poem and I am wondering how long it would take the reader to figure it out if you hadn’t explained it…

    • Hey,

Thank you for wonderful comment. I am delighted to receive it. I was paranoid if readers wont get the sole message what I tried to convey – i wanted this to be two love stories merging into ONE! The girl (my friend) working out wit her emotions for the guy who is morning over the love of his life who once was the sunshine to him! Explanations at times are necessary otherwise riddles do no harm too!
      Thank you for dropping by.
      -Naima.

  15. Also, this is (I think) successful at conveying raw emotions through the narrative of the poem.

  16. raven's witch ⋅

    very awesome Namia!!

Stupendous…!!! You have an amazing blog up here. 🙂
