Book of Life

You are a book,
An untitled story,
The beginnings and endings,
They write it for themselves,
They make their way,
Piercing into your lives,
Exploiting the truth,
Faking the lies,
Broken trust and false promises,
Unexpected expectations and rustling good-byes,
Chapter after chapter,
New characters,
Hesitantly envisioning,
The possibilities to realize your dreams,
Learning from the past,
Making present an inspiration,
To seek a brighter tomorrow,
And the book continues,
Good and bad times,
Protagonists and antagonists,
Friends and foes,
Love and light,
Arguments and fights,
Brand new beginnings,
Abrupt endings,
Day after day,
Chapter after chapter,
Light after dark,
Misery after bliss,
The vicious cycle continues,
The combination of peace and conflict,
Accumulated loads of ambiguity,
But what are you living for?
What is the purpose of this ongoing war?
Why do you yearn for more and more?
The answers to your questions,
They demand years and wisdom,
For you can resolve this mystery,
With a journey of self-discovery.

About globalunison

Writing is my passion and that is what I do here on this blog. I write about everything, whether it be Nature, Love, Hate, Relationships, Humans, Personal Life (where I discuss lessons learnt through real-life experiences), Food, Philosophy (sometimes) and much more. I write in any form whether it be Prose or Poetry. I am in search of ‘Myself’, hence there is not much I can tell you about me. Perhaps, I have a very brilliant idea. Why don’t you come along with me on my journey? I will always care to share and you can also enjoy the ride. For now, this is it. I am ‘ME’ – a wanderer in search of a fulfilling life. Until next time, Love Living Life! I express my sincere gratitude to all my Readers! -Naima

  1. Really liked it! 🙂

As they say we are the Author of our life, which is a book in itself.
I remember I wrote a poem relating myself with a book. ‘A Leaden Book’.

  2. This is really thoughtful! It is a mystery why these vicious cycles are so hard for us to control as individuals. Self-discovery is certainly the most beneficial journey. I think most of these troubles exist because we focus too much on others.

    • I agree that most of the troubles are uninvited because we are busy not being busy in our own life but others. However, maybe that’s one of the many consequences of being a human.

  3. Very nicely written, Naima. I completely agree that the wisdom required to answer all our questions comes only with time. All our lives are beautifully summed up in these few lines. 🙂

  4. Life is like in the movie – make your own story, begins it, face it, experiencing it and nows how to end it. 🙂

  5. This is beautiful….And in life…there is no skipping chapters or reading ahead.

  6. Beautifully written Naima!! We play all kinds of roles in our life depending on the situations.. We can just make sure that the pages left to be written are sufficient enough to take us where we want to or have the desire to go. Some ‘Abrupt endings’ may intervene but we should work on it on a regular basis,on each page of our untitled book 🙂

Beautiful portrayal of life’s reality. Yet looking at life from a different perspective it can be joyful if only we relax our mind and let go.
    Regards and cheers 🙂

  11. Deep thoughts, beautiful.!
Our life is indeed like a book, to know the complete story, we need to read it till the end.! 🙂

I hope we could learn from all our intentional or unintentional miseries with this healing power of self discovery 🙂

    • Indeed — with every chapter of our book revealed one day at a time, it should be our duty to learn from our mistakes to ensure a way to live a life we want. Thank you for you wonderful comment as always — so warm and welcoming.

      Much love,
      -Naima
