The solitude embraced her,
For the longest time,
She concealed her pain with a plastic smile,
A bottle of wine and sleepless nights,
Holding onto the fragments of false hope,
And the shattering memories came flooding back,
Tearing up her heart all over again,
This night which she thought would last forever,
Surprised her with bright morning light,
Invading her mind and all her weaknesses,
So she could undo the damage that numbed her senses,
The smell of alcohol faded with the tick-tock of the clock,
But would they not be stifled by the fumes of sorrow,
The stinging wounds that could smell bitter,
Than the alcohol on her breath,
She would give them the benefit of the doubt,
And let alcohol fool them all,
For oftentimes her heart could soundlessly shout,
For oftentimes she could motionlessly fall.
I didn’t realize this was a challenge until I clicked n “wine”…nice job with this, Naima! Cheers =)
Thank you!
Well, I am not exactly about rules and posting them and then nominating other people but Aditi really wanted me to do this challenge (and I didn’t want to let her down) so I came up with an idea to incorporate her word in my poetry and cheer her up.
Regards,
-Naima
Great idea…I love how you struck a balance to not deal with rules etc but still used the word. Clever! Cheers =)
Sheer brilliance!! I was hoping for someone to take up wine with pain and you already did 🙂 Thank you for taking the challenge 🙂
Well I usually don’t take up challenges and awards on here but this poetry is very much dedicated to you, Aditi. I am happy you liked it.
Blessings,
-Naima
