The first time when he touched her,
He claimed her soul to his breath,
She decided for his heart to be her home,
And together they vowed to never give it up,
Then one day, he took away her tomorrow,
Blended her boundless love with unlimited sorrow,
Since then, she had only known her shadow,
To be her ally in the darkness alone,
For every night when he was away,
She chose to drown in his memory,
Every morning when she woke up to an empty life,
She chose to deny the truth,
So she could surrender to the endless pain,
That pierced through her self-esteem,
Whenever she tried to say goodbye,
To the world they created together,
While he had left her behind to savor their doom,
She played with the broken pieces,
Of her withering and flickering heart,
So she could fool it just one last time,
With the hope that he will return,
And claim her to himself all over again,
But until then, she would survive the pain,
With a smile on her face,
And the warrior-spirited woman she is,
So don’t be late this time, she would be waiting.

She played with the broken pieces,
Of her withering and flickering heart,
So she could fool it just one last time,
With the hope that he will return,
Just brilliant, these lines. The rest of the poem is good.. but these four lines are pure spunk. Keep it up!
Thank you! :))
Kind Regards,

I like this but my favorite part is the “you and I” statement at the end. Cheers
Thank you!
Wishing you a good day.

Same to you, Naima. =)
Beautiful, Naima. I liked the quote, well, that is the reality we often deny 🙂
True that :))

It happens to us all…. that lingering moment of denial….. of trying to conjure hope out of the elements. But the sooner we let go of the pain the sooner we start building strength for tomorrows battles. Which waits for no sorrows from yesterday. Lovely poem
Indeed. Why carry the burden of the sorrows from yesterday when there is no happiness to balance it off?
May be then one day you move on in a happy land only to invite sorrows again so you could be stronger with each passing day. May be..
Thank you Francois for your comment and input. It’s greatly appreciated.

Thank u for getting my thot gears grinding. Its always a pleasure.
It truly is sheer brilliance, Naima. With each piece you keep outdoing the previous one. Lots of love ❤
Thank you Ritika! ❤

In cases of the heart at times, I think the best way out is to not hate and to not hope! Hope seems hopeless after a certain point, causing more pain each day. The pain of yet another day of broken expectations.
That pain somehow for some souls become the reason to breathe. After a while, the same pain that once ago was poisoning the system becomes pleasure.
Thank you for your input, Aditi :))

I can relate to what you’re saying. The pain may be pleasure for the person concerned but they stop learning to love. Rather they’re afraid to love again.
I agree that they forget to learn it probably are afraid to love again and that is probably a choice as well.
-Naima
Probably… Probably I’ll never know…
Sometimes this wait never ends but still one should carry that warrior spirit just for that last ray of hope.!
Exactly! One should never stop hoping ’cause hello, haven’t you heard if miracles?
Thank you for your comment, Archita.
